The Division of Engineering and Product Design School of Environment and Technology at the University of Brighton held its annual prize giving event on 30 July 2010 in the Design Creativity Centre. This year the Amplicon Jim Hicks Memorial prize was presented to the Final Year Electronics student Jonathan Bickley for his project +lsquo;An investigation into a physiological diagnostic tool to sense blood pressure. This outstanding piece of work was awarded a 1st Class classification in Digital Electronics Computing and Communications. Amplicon CEO Gina Citroni presented the prize and gave a brief talk to the students and parents on the importance of supporting young talent into engineering; +lsquo; Amplicon are proud to continue our association with the University of Brighton and in particular presenting an award that reminds us of our roots which are based firmly in engineering. June 30th marked the end of the Amplicon financial year. It signalled the completion of one of the toughest we had faced but it had also been another successful year.Four members of the exceptional Amplicon sales team have each achieved sales in excess of +pound;1 million. Even more outstanding Richard Munson UK sales manager has managed this performance for the 5th year running; and his colleague Darren Saxby international sales manager has achieved this for the second time. On Sunday 20th June Richard Munson and his band of charity cyclists set off from Clapham Common on the annual London to Brighton bike ride.Some 6 hours later a very tired and saddle sore team arrived on Brighton seafront to collect their medals; and headed off to relax on the beach and to enjoy well earned pints.Richard and team managed to raise an amazing +pound;1145 for the Royal Free Oncology Department where Richards Mum is currently undergoing treatment.Well done to Richard and a very big thank you to all of you who dug deep and sponsored him on this marathon event.

16.06.2010 Top apprentice embarks on a bright career at Amplicon

Andrew Greer at 19 year of age will undertake a 4 year apprenticeship of vocational studies and a college course to attain formal qualifications in electronics before joining Amplicons team as a fully qualified Configuration Technician.Amplicon worked closely with SIGTA (an UK association specialising in the training and development of people in the engineering and manufacturing sector) to select a suitable candidate for the Amplicon apprentice scheme. Amplicon are delighted to announce the arrival of 2 very special young ladies. On the 15th December our financial controller Suzanne Hegarty gave birth to her first baby. The beautiful Elliot Mae made her debut at 10:30am weighing in at a very healthy 8lbs. Not to be out done Mo Ahmed one of our sales engineers and his partner Lara welcomed their first baby on 18th January. Another beautiful girl Kyla arrived at 4:30am +ndash; bright and early for the working week! Mothers and babies are doing well and Dads are still recovering! What a fantastic start to our new year! Congratulations to both couples.

The newly released G3111 from Amplicon is an intelligent IP modem providing customers with a simple method of connecting to serial devices anywhere in the world. The innovative +lsquo;Reverse Real COM mode of operation overcomes the classic connectivity problems inherent in cellular networks making global GPRS connections easier than ever before. The G3111 (RS232 only) and the G3151 (RS232/422/485 selectable) are a new generation of Intelligent modems that behave like Serial to Ethernet converters with a GPRS network interface instead of the customary 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface. Support for Virtual COM mode of operation makes integration very easy with the physical serial ports appearing as COM ports in a PCs Operating System. GPRS configuration can be complicated the first time it is attempted which is why Amplicon has invested in demo stock technical videos and SIM cards with static IP addresses +ndash; all freely accessible to make the customers experience as straightforward as possible. The products have a quad-band GSM/GPRS engine allowing them to be used all around the world and feature a 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface to make configuration easy.
