Amplicon raises over £2,000 in Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Amplicon have continued their support for local charities raising over £2000 for Breast Cancer Now, a UK charity providing world-class research and life-changing care for people affected by breast cancer. The money raised will help Breast Cancer Now provide life-changing care for anyone affected by breast cancer and increase the funding of breakthrough research, bringing hope for tomorrow.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month Amplicon host two exciting events, all to raise vital funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Now. The first event is a Baking Challenge, which is open to all businesses on the Centenary Industrial Estate; the second one is a friendly football tournament which will see a mixed team of men and women fighting it out for the Amplicon Challenge Trophy.
The Baking Challenge, which was received with great enthusiasm, saw entries from A J Taylor Electrical, Brighton Tools and Fixings and Brighton Sunblinds, who all came forward to help fight cancer submitting mouth-watering cakes and kind donations. Overall, the day was a resounding success with more than 15 bakers signing up to compete.
The cakes and goodies were judged by Tina Daniels, sales and events manager of The Evening Argus and the Amplicon CEO Gina Citroni. The cakes were scored on three criteria: Taste, originality and appearance. The entries were of a very high standard making the judging a tough job. The winners of the Amplicon Baking Challenge were Katie Peachment from AJ Taylor Electrical, Nina Beatty from Brighton Sunblinds and Morgan Greer from Amplicon.
The three winners could choose prizes of tickets to any event at the Brighton Komedia or a hamper filled with delicious treats as well as bottles of champagne and prosecco.
Following the judging all of the cakes and treats could be purchased by Team Amplicon and the other businesses around the Estate, raising even more funds.
The fundraiser match, organised by the Amplicon Marketing Manager Miriam Bernal kicked off at 5:30pm on the last Friday of October and lasted for approximately one hour. The game was good fun and filled with lively but friendly competition. The 6-aside match showed some amazing football skills from the Amplicon squad, with all participants giving their 100% to take home the Amplicon Challenge Cancer trophy.
Summer Kendrick, wear it pink manager at Breast Cancer Now, said:
“We want to send a heartfelt thank-you to Amplicon for holding such an amazing fundraising event and for their vital support during these unprecedented times. The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on Breast Cancer Now’s ability to deliver the progress and support that people affected by breast cancer rely on us for now more than ever.
Breast cancer hasn’t stopped for the pandemic. Over the past year people have been diagnosed with the disease at a time when everything from treatment to screenings have been disrupted, making the support that we provide, and the hope our research generates, a vital lifeline.”
