Amplicon takes a journey to Wonderland in celebration of Founders Day
Friday August 6th, saw the annual Founders Day celebrations for Team Amplicon; this year the theme was Amplicon in Wonderland.
The day started with a trip to the Sussex County Croquet Club in Southwick for a very competitive croquet tournament. Team Amplicon, dressed in their favourite Alice in Wonderland characters, were organised into teams. After a few hard fought games, the winners of the tournament were the highly skilled Jackie Hoey and Ilir Ipeku, beating off stiff competition from the runners up Simon and Philip. The croquet club provided tea, biscuits and cake along with prizes for our winners.
The team then moved on to the next venue, Brio an Italian restaurant in the neighbouring town of Shoreham. Before we all tucked in to our delicious food, CEO Gina Citroni, announced the names along with an overview of the amazing work done by the 4 nominees for the annual Amplicon Oscar Awards of Outstanding performance of the year and The People’s Choice.
With the meal over, it was time to announce the long-waited Amplicon Oscars winners. Well done, Amr Metwaly, a great recipient of the Outstanding Performance award and to Morgan Greer a worthy runner up. In addition, Simon Shoobridge and Sarim Shehzad both received a special mention for their contribution to the business throughout the year.
This led us onto the coveted award of the People’s Choice, and thanks to a large number of votes from his colleagues, Bradley Coleman stepped up to accept this award. All of the nominees and winners received goodie bags full of prizes including engraved shields, personalised silver platter, gift vouchers and certificates.
As the 2021 Founders Day drew to a close, there was time for one last competition! Prizes for the Best Dressed Girl and Best Dressed Boy, judged by our very own Pilate’s instructor and couture clothing designer Philip Cobbett. The winners, Darren Saxby and Morgan Greer, came top in the winning categories, with both taking a prize for their fabulous costume efforts. Well done to both of them!
Safe to say, this year’s event was a resounding success and Team Amplicon are eager to see what next year’s Founders Day will hold for them!
